  • Ride this ride with as much compassion and grace for self

    November 10, 2021 by

Coming into the Holiday season as we continue to traverse one of the most challenging times in history, we are all ready to get a “bigger picture”. When times present the “darkest of the dark”, our self-talk and self-listening are everything. Before we can hear what we have to say, we must create the space, time, and breath for self-care.

  • Ride this ride with as much compassion and grace for self
Coming into the Holiday season as we continue to traverse one of the most challenging times in history, we are all ready to get a “bigger picture”. When times present the “darkest of the dark”, our self-talk and self-listening are everything. Before we can hear what we have to say, we must create the space, time, and breath for self-care.
  • Bring Back Our Remembrance
In this time of divisiveness and the pandemic- intend something greater than what is happening in life at this moment.
  • Yeah, yeah, no,no
“Yeah, yeah, no, no”, her brown almond shaped eyes looked directly into my soul.” “What do you mean, yeah yeah no no?“
  • A Reflection on Sides: Conversations with Dad
When I wrote and published my book in 2012, very little had been written about the continuation and evolution of a father-daughter relationship both on earth, and beyond. Sides: Conversations with Dad is such a book. It chronicles both the earthly relationship between me, Diane Halperin, and my father, Yale, and then the spiritual relationship through our conversations after Dad made his transition on April 5, 2003.
  • Working Together
When Life is experienced as terrifying and bleak, sometimes, we are more willing to work together to solve problems.
  • A Reflection: A New Year Spirituality
Winter is a time of going inward — a time of quiet and reflection. Nature mirrors this slowing down everywhere we look—bears hibernate, flowers are dormant, we want to stay home, enjoy a cozy fire and nest.
  • Aunt Ida and me
I have been reading the Tarot for more than 40 years. My first experience of card readings was watching my Great Aunt Ida read my older cousins’ cards. She said that a Gypsy had taught her to read when she was sixteen. She wouldn’t give me a reading until I was 13 (Bat Mitzvah age).   Continue reading “Aunt Ida and me”
  • Live Life On Purpose
Living life on purpose is daring to live life from a place of authenticity, giving our attention and intention to what has heart and meaning, and daring to believe: “I’m a co-creator with the Divine; I’m not a victim of life’s circumstances”. It encourages an openness to live life out loud. This takes courage, a willingness to be kind to oneself, and a well-developed sense of humor.
  • Diane Halperin: On Grief & Reconnecting with Her Father
Diane is a therapist who believes in living life on purpose from the soul. Using a mirror as a portal to connect with deeper layers of the self, she guided herself through a process of relating with her soul and learning to love who she saw in the mirror. After Diane connected with herself, she acted as guide through that process with her clients.
  • An Invitation
Whenever I was worried about anything, Mom would always take notice and begin a reoccurring conversation we had throughout her life: “Diane, you have to talk to yourself.” Translation: “Whenever you feel worried and down, “talk to yourself” and remind yourself that you have so much to be thankful for…And everything is going to work out in the Right Way…So, don’t worry.
  • The Power of Tarot Readings In-Person or Over the Phone
Tarot is a symbolic map of consciousness—an ancient book of wisdom. It’s a powerful healing tool awakening our intuitive processes and addressing our relationship to transformation and change. It’s the recipient’s energy that is informing the reading — so the information will be about his or her life.
  • On Tarot Reading: The Teacher Appears, When the Student is Ready
What I’ve come to learn is—the “teacher” is our own inner wisdom. I seek the wisdom of the cards when I want to hear my own voice, my own wisdom.
  • Reflections on New Year’s Intention
Our aim to be more mindful, loving, patient, joyous, passionate, fun Human Beings looks very different when we see, experience ourselves through a Higher, more loving perspective.
  • Spiritu, Our Dog, Embodies the Spirit of the Season & Everyday
Spiritu, our 5-½ month tri-colored cocker spaniel, daily lives the Spirit of the holiday season – love, peace, joy, community, kindness, and giving from the heart. Much of the time, our boy is a “delight”. And, when he is not, it’s most often because our communication is out of sync. Usually, I’m not understanding what he needs or wants. Sometimes, he’s “asking for a time out or time alone”; sometimes he’s hungry or needs to go outside. At the moment of our clashing, I have a choice to make. I can get into a power struggle which ends in either/or—either he gets his way or I get mine. Or, I can divert his attention and we both “win”. His unwanted behavior evaporates and he’s excited about the new diversion. We move on.
  • A Reflection on Writing Lives Well-Lived: I Remember Baubie and Zadie
“If my remembering stories of Baubie and Zadie’ gifts, stimulates your remembering, I’m glad and the purpose of my writing this book is fulfilled. Each of us has an opportunity to identify those “Angels in human clothing” and thank them by embodying unconditional love and passing it on.
  • History of Our Dogs
“A 100%! You asked me to let you know when I was ready to return. I am a dog of my word and coming back around through my ancestry would probably get your attention.”
  • The Odyssey—The Journey
Once every year for the past several years, I drive from Manhattan Beach, CA (my home now) to Omaha, NE. (My first home). When I tell people of my yearly journey, they usually respond with: “Aren’t you scared to drive by yourself? To be by yourself‘out there’?” What they don’t know is I love theContinue reading “The Odyssey—The Journey”
  • “Interspecies Love Affair” – A Tribute
Reflecting on the 13 year relationship I had with my dog, Spirit, an entry from my 1973 journal came to mind: “Boundless the Unity my friend— Touch, reflect—rebound to the limits of our expansion…” I was trying to capture and communicate the feeling and sense of awe that a deep love relationship offers. Whether that love is between humans, animals or “interspecies love affair” as Laura Nyro once sang about, word pictures and photos present us with a glimpse of what’s possible.
  • A Reflection: A New Year Spirituality
The original purpose of the holiday season—no matter our persuasion—is to celebrate and “intend” something greater than what is happening in life at this moment.
  • Living Life On Purpose
“Doing something on purpose” had a negative connotation to me. Giving a whole new spin to this idea, my beloved teacher allowed me to revisit my perception/understanding of this phrase.
  • Lifting the Holiday Spirit
Self care is always a good idea during holiday season. We know that taking care of our bodies, minds, and spirits can allow for a more positive time. However, it’s very easy to fall into any number of “potholes”(stress, to do list, etc.). When we focus exclusively on the “pothole(s)”, we squeeze out life, joy, and fun. The holidays start feeling like “a race to the finish line”. So, this got me to thinking: How do I stay in my bliss during this time instead of my aggravation? How do I remember to breathe, drink lots of water, get plenty of rest — there I go again, another list … So, let’s reframe.
