Reflecting on the 13 year relationship I had with my dog, Spirit, an entry from my 1973 journal came to mind:
“Boundless the Unity
my friend—
Touch, reflect—rebound to the limits
of our expansion…”
I was trying to capture and communicate the feeling and sense of awe that a deep love relationship offers. Whether that love is between humans, animals or “interspecies love affair” as Laura Nyro once sang about, word pictures and photos present us with a glimpse of what’s possible.
Each and everyday, “my boy” loved me, made me laugh, kept me alive in the miracle of each moment lived fully. I never tired of his antics and I felt so alive with Spirit by my side. Thank you, dear friend, Spirit for all that you gave me and how your existence informed my life.

Two true Spirits. Or, as my Southern friends would say “Two peas in a pod.” What Spirit did for you, you do for others.
