Lives Well-Lived: I Remember Baubie and Zadie is a love story that takes the reader from the schtetles (villages) of Russia to America, “the Land of the Free”, at the turn of the 20th century. It’s a chronicle of the dying art of living life with honesty, humor, commitment and unconditional love, with an emphasis on heroes, positive role models, family values, and holding each other in the highest esteem. This is a story that emanates warmth, hope, and inspiration, and provides many marvelous examples of “lives well lived”. It is an immigrant’s journey.

Diane’s protege, Virginia Mariconda moved by the story of Baubie and Zadie designed a study unit that would communicate the true spirit of the book by providing opportunities for various forms of personal, creative expression, as well as a rich cultural experience. This unit is an accompaniment to the book suitable for learning English as a Second Language.
