When I wrote and published my book in 2012, very little had been written about the continuation and evolution of a father-daughter relationship both on earth, and beyond. Sides: Conversations with Dad is such a book. It chronicles both the earthly relationship between me, Diane Halperin, and my father, Yale, and then the spiritual relationship through our conversations after Dad made his transition on April 5, 2003.

Diane Halperin: On Grief & Reconnecting with Her Father
Diane is a therapist who believes in living life on purpose from the soul. Using a mirror as a portal to connect with deeper layers of the self, she guided herself through a process of relating with her soul and learning to love who she saw in the mirror. After Diane connected with herself, she acted as guide through that process with her clients.
Looking for Inspiration
Sometimes we need inspiration. Each of us has our go-to place: music, poetry, scripture, sayings. Today, I wanted a focus, a surprise—but I didn’t know exactly what I was looking for.
So, I used my book, Sides: Conversations with Dad, as a spiritual oracle—very much like Affirmations, Tarot, I Ching, or Runes. As in preparation for any sacred act, I quieted myself, took a long slow breath and opened my book.
Trusting that whatever conversation appeared would most assuredly have a lesson or kernel of truth needed in this particular moment, I was not disappointed. Here’s a paraphrase of the gem that was bestowed upon me:
“Remember what you look like through Spirit’s Eyes. If you forget what you look like in Spirit’s Eyes, it’s very difficult to see Spirit in everyone else.”
